Aksum University established by the Ministry of Education in 2007 with proclamation NO. 1152/2009; is mandated to serve as a higher education institution providing quality and relevant academic, research and community engagement. Besides doing its responsibilities properly, the university has been disseminating its performances and achievements in the three mandates to the public and the government through the media, reports, publications, conference proceedings and bulletins. As the academic staff have been highly involved in research activities sponsored by the university itself and other sources since its inception, launching a new journal can serve as a means of promoting the knowledge contributed by the staff and encouraging researchers for further contributions to the local, national and international community. The name of the journal is “Axumite Journal of Agriculture and Environment (AJAE)” containing different sub themes under it.

This working manual of the journal includes its own mission, vision, objectives, organizational structure, descriptions, significance, benefits, scope, quality of the journal, selection criteria’s for papers to be published, roles and responsibilities of editors, editorial freedom, conflict of interest disclosure, editorial board participation, roles and responsibilities of reviewers, reviewers selection, ethical clearance and responsibilities of reviewers, rewarding reviewers, editor-in-chief and selection criteria, timeliness of the publication process, journal ownership and authors’ guide, among others.
